
Strong Performances Propel Hoosiers to Finish Third and Eighth at Pre-Nationals

MADISON, Wis. – The Indiana Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed at the Wisconsin Pre-National on Saturday afternoon. Both squads received strong performances by all as the women finished third and the men finished eighth.
The Women's team took third place on Saturday with a combined team score of 166. Indiana was the only Big Ten to finish in the top 5. Arkansas claimed first place honors with Oregon taking second.
Redshirt Junior Katherine Receveur finished first for the Hoosiers and 15th overall in the 6k women's cardinal race, clocking a time of 20:33.8. Margret Allen had another strong performance for Indiana as she crossed the finish line in 20:41.5 to take 20th overall. Freshman, Bailey Hertenstein received her second fastest time of the season with 20:58.7 as she finished 36th. Lexa Barrott finished 4th for the Hoosiers and 43rd overall with a time of 21:05.9. Haley Harris finished in 21:13.7 to place 52nd overall. Claire Hamilton clocked a time of 22:03.4 to place 134th, and teammate Kelsey Harris finished 148th (22:16.8).
On the men's side, the Hoosiers placed eighth overall with 298 points. BYU finished first with 29 points followed by Washington (106), Syracuse (195), UCLA (205), Notre Dame (220), Air Force (231), and Purdue (234).
In the 8k Men's White Race, Kyle Mau was the first Hoosier to cross the finish line as he placed 16th overall in 24:07.5. Dustin Horter had another strong race with a time of 24:39.7 to snag 51st place. Junior, Bryce Millar finished 66th with a time of 24:50.1 while teammate Arjun Jha came in 76th in a time of 24:53.9. Finishing sixth for Indiana and 89th overall, Joseph Murphy crossed the finish line in 25:01.0. Grad transfer, Daniel Michalski made his debut in the cream and crimson as he finished sixth for the Hoosiers and 101st overall (25:06.0). Kyle Burks rounded out competition with a 168th place finish (25:52.8).
Next, the Hoosiers will travel to Urbana-Champaign, Ill. to compete in the Illini Open. Competition is slated to being at 5 p.m. EST.
