Indiana Wraps Up Competition at Illini Open

URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Indiana Men's and Women's Cross Country competed in the Illini Open on Friday evening. The men's team placed second, while the women didn't have a combined team score.
Bradley took the top spot on the men's side with a team score of 38, as the Hoosiers were close behind with a score of 39 to take second. Marquette came in third (49) while Butler rounded out the team competition with 109 points.
Kenneth Hagen was the first to cross the finish line for Indiana as he finished 4th overall in a time of 25:33.8. Finishing second for the Hoosiers and 10th overall, Teddy Browning clocked a time of 25:48.8. Aaron Bennett was next to finish for Indiana, coming in 33rd overall with a time of 26:41.5. Rounding out the field was Marcus Ellington who crossed the finish line 38th and notched a time of 26:49.3.
On the women's side, Josey Kotre was the only one competitor to wear the cream and crimson as she came in 5th with a time of 18:32.7.
Running unattached for the men, Keelan Grant finished 2nd (24:59.7) while teammate Matthew Schadler finished right behind him in 3rd with a time of 25:15.3. Also finishing back to back were Collin Murphy (25:43.1) and Jackson Jett (25:44.5) who came in 7th and 8th, respectively overall. Ben Miller crossed the finish line 12th clocking a time of 25:51.6. Matthew Yoder also placed in the top 50 as he finished 24th (26:24.0). Following close behind was Jake Gebhardt who placed 26th in a time of 26:32.3.
Jenna Barker, Abi Little, and Ana Barrott ran unattached in the women's race. Barker had a strong showing as she placed 3rd (18:24.0). Little finished right behind Barker in 4th in a time of 18:26.7. Rounding out the field was Ana Barrott who crossed the finish line in a time of 18:33.0 to take 6th place.
The Hoosiers will begin postseason action next weekend as they will travel to Lincoln, Neb. for Big Ten Championships. Action is set for Sunday, Oct. 28.
