Hoosiers Ready to Compete in Illini Open on Friday Evening

Bloomington, Ind.— Indiana Cross Country will conclude the regular season on Friday evening in Champaign-Urbana, Ill. by participating in the Illini Open. Competition is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. EST.
The meet will take place at the UI Arboretum located on the campus of the University of Illinois. The women's 5k race will kick off the open with a start time of 5:00 p.m. EST. Shortly after, will be the men's 8k race that is scheduled to begin at 5:40 p.m. EST.
This week, the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track &Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association) announced their weekly regional and national rankings. The women's squad cracked the top-10 for the first time in program history coming in at No. 10 in the national poll. After a 3rd place finish at Pre-Nationals, the Hoosiers jumped a spot in the Great Lakes Regional as they rank second.
On the men's side, Indiana ranks 22nd in the most recent national poll. The Hoosiers placed 8th at Pre-Nationals which helped propel them to No. 4 in the Great Lakes Regional rankings.
