No. 2 Hoosiers Beat Butler, 3-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 2-ranked Indiana University men's soccer team defeated in-state rival Butler, 3-0, at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium on Tuesday night in Bloomington, Ind.
KEY MOMENTS
• The Hoosiers (12-2) jumped out to an early lead over the Bulldogs (3-9-2), scoring in the fifth minute. Andrew Gutman played a great ball in the middle of the box, finding a diving Justin Rennicks, who headed the home past the Butler keeper.
• Indiana doubled the lead in the 23rd minute off a corner kick. Trevor Swartz played the ball to the back post, finding an unmarked Timmy Mehl, who buried the header from two-yards out.
• IU capped the scoring in the 74th minute when Swartz played a great long-ball to Spencer Glass. The redshirt sophomore blasted his shot to the top-left corner from 14-yards out.
• IU's Trey Muse and Sean Caulfield combined for the team's eighth shutout of the season. Muse made two saves in nearly 82 minutes of action.

• With the victory over Butler, the Hoosiers improve to 19-0-2 in the team's last 21 matches at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
• Also with the win, IU improves to 17-0-1 in the team's last 18 regular-season matches against non-conference teams at Armstrong Stadium.
• Indiana is 3-0 against in-state opponents this year, with wins over Butler, at Evansville and at No. 8 Notre Dame.
• With his two assists, Swartz leads the Big Ten with 10 on the season. Swartz is the first Hoosiers with 10 or more assists in a season since A.J. Corrado had 12 in 2012.
• The Hoosiers finished the non-conference portion of the team's schedule with a 7-2 record.
