Hoosiers Drop Five Set Match at No. 16 Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Indiana volleyball lost a second straight five set match as they fell on the road at No. 16 Michigan, 3-2 (25-19, 19-25, 21-25, 25-23, 14-16) on Saturday at Cliff Keen Arena.
Key Moments
• The Hoosiers held a 12-9 lead in the opening set, but Michigan scored three straight points to tie it 12-12.
• At 12-12 in the first set, Indiana used a 6-0 run to go up 18-12 and won the first set, 25-19.
• Michigan opened the second set scoring nine of the first 12 points to jump out to a 9-3 lead. Indiana got within three at 12-9, but Michigan scored three straight to go up 15-9 and take the second set, 25-19.
• Indiana led 19-15 in the third set, but Michigan used a 7-1 run to go up 22-20 and win the third set, 25-21.
• Breana Edwards connected on back-to-back kills to put Indiana up 11-9 in the fourth set, but Michigan scored the next four points to go up 13-11.
• Trailing 20-18 Indiana got back-to-back kills from Deyshia Lofton as part of a 4-0 run to go up 22-20. The Hoosiers won set four, 25-23.
• Indiana led 8-5 in the fifth set, but Michigan scored three straight to tie it 8-8.

"I didn't think we had a great week of practice. If you don't prepare the right way sometimes you have opportunities to win, but we didn't quite get it done. I could look at the positive and say we were in close matches and played hard on the road, but at the end of the day there are not a lot of moral victories, you want to win and you have to find ways to win close matches."
