Hoosiers Join Top Teams In The Country At Medinah

MEDINAH, Ill. – The Indiana women's golf team will head to one of the best private country clubs in the country this week for the Illinois Women's Invite at Medinah Country Club near Chicago. The 15-team field features nine teams ranked inside the top 50 in the country.
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and the close with 18 holes on Tuesday.

The Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah welcomes the nation's top teams to the famed Medinah Country Club. Founded in the 1920s, the club is one of the most prominent private country clubs in the country located just 25 miles west of the city, in the Chicago suburbs. The famous course No. 3 has hosted numerous major championships and prestigious international golf events. The club is home to several premier events including the 2015 U.S. Amateur. Medinah Country Club has hosted the Ryder Cup (2012), three U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, and three Western Opens among other high-level tournaments.
Harper Among the Best in the Nation
Erin Harper has continued to prove that she is among the top golfers in the country. She qualified for the NCAA Madison Regional last year as a junior and then advanced on to the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma as well. Most recently, she qualified to Stage II of LPGA Q-School, which takes place next week in Florida.
Awesome Angela
Sophomore Angela Aung has shown no signs of a sophomore slump, having recorded her best career finish the last time out (T24) along with her bets 54-hole score (222). Her scoring average of 74.00 is 3.40 shots better than her freshman year scoring average. As a freshman, out of 20 rounds, Aung posted seven rounds of 76 or better. This year, all five of her rounds have been 76 or better.
Tournament 1 Recap – Cougar Classic
The Cougar Classic hosted by the College of Charleston was shortened to 36-holes after mandatory evacuations were ordered by the state of South Carolina ahead of Hurricane Florence. Indiana got off to a rocky start in round one but rebounded in round two to finish 16th out of 19 teams. Individually, Erin Harper paced the Hoosiers at 2-under par, which was good for a tie for 22nd. Sophomore Angela Aung and freshman Alexis Miestowski both tied for 48th at 4-over par.
Tournament 2 Recap – Mary Fossum Invitational
After an opening round score of 289 had the Hoosiers in third place at the Mary Fossum Invitational, Indiana would go on to finish eighth with a total score of 892 (+28). Leading the way was senior Erin Harper, who carded rounds of 70-74-72 to tie for sixth place at Even par. Angela Aung joined her in the Top 25 after her score of 222 (71-75-76) put her in a tie for 24th.
