Hoosiers Come Up Short in Five Set Match at No. 13 Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana volleyball team came back from down 23-21 in the fourth set to force a fifth set, but fell 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-23, 12-15) at No. 13 Purdue on Saturday.
Key Moments
• After dropping the first set, the Hoosiers jumped out to a 14-6 lead in the second set and evened the match 1-1 with a 25-22 set two victory.
• After 10 ties in the third set at 13-13, Purdue scored two straight points to go up 15-13 and never trailed the rest of the set as they won it to go up 2-1 in the match.
• In the fourth set, the Hoosiers trailed 23-21, but back-to-back kills from freshmen Breana Edwards and Lexi Johnson tied the set 23-23.
• At 23-23 in the fourth set Johnson got a solo block and freshman Abigail Westenhofer served up an ace to five the Hoosiers a 25-23 fourth set win and force a fifth set.
• Indiana started strong in the fifth set with a 4-1 lead, but Purdue battled back to tie it 5-5.
• Tied at 10-10 in the fifth set, Purdue scored three straight to go up 13-10.
• The Hoosiers came back to within one at 13-12, but an Indiana attack error and Purdue kill secured the set and match for Purdue.

• Sophomore libero Bayli Lebo set a career-high with 28 digs. Lebo moved into eighth on the Hoosiers all-time list for single season digs and now has 423 for the season.
• Freshman Breana Edwards led Indiana with 19 kills.
• Kamryn Malloy tallied 11 kills and added 14 digs for a double-double.
• Indiana posted 10 team blocks and have now recorded double digit blocks in 15 matches this season.
• Victoria Brisack recorded a double-double with 31 assists and 10 digs.
