Indiana Track & Field Kicks Off Indoor Season by Hosting Hoosier Open

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— After a successful cross-country season, Indiana Track & Field looks to continue the success as they kick off the indoor season. The Hoosiers will host the Hoosier Open on Dec. 7 with events beginning at 3:45 p.m. inside of Gladstein Fieldhouse.
Ron Helmer enters his 12th season as the head coach of the men's and women's track & field teams. Indiana is coming off a strong season that saw both the men's and women's squads capture third place at Big Ten Championships.
Schedule of Events
Friday's meet with feature 38 events, 13 track events and six field events.
The order of events for track—60-meter hurdle trials, 60-meter hurdle trials, the mile, 60-meter hurdle finals, 60-meter finals, 400-meter, 500-meter, 1,000-meter, 5,000-meter fast section, 200-meter, 300-meter, 4x400 meter relay.
Order of events for field—Throws, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, high jump.

2017 Hoosier Open
Last season at the Hoosier Open, many Hoosiers broke meet records including Katherine Receveur, (5K), Daniel Kuhn (500m), Willie Morrison (shot put), Jyles Etienne (high jump), and Kyle Mau (3,000m).
Last time: Indiana earns a pair of third place finishes at 2017-18 Big Ten Indoor Championships
Indiana is coming off a season that saw them place third at the 2017-18 Big Ten Indoor Championships. Returners, Kyle Mau (mile) and Katherine Receveur (5,000m) both took gold at the meet to become Big Ten Individual Champions. Kelsey Harris, Teddy Browning, Joe Murphy, and Ben Veatch all saw podium finishes throughout the meet.
