Indiana concludes competition at Hoosier Open

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Indiana Track & Field wrapped up competition in the Hoosier Open on Friday evening.
Zykeria Williams took care of business in the 60-meter hurdles as she kicked off her indoor season with a first-place finish in a time of 8.443.
Rikko Brathwaite finished first in the in 60-meter as he clocked a time of 6.672. Brathwaite broke the Hoosier Open record that was set in 2013 by Shane Crawford (6.69).
Indiana had two finish in the top five of the women's 500-meter. Riley Egbula (1:13.23) snagged second while teammate Mallory Mulzer nabbed fifth (1:15.92). In the men's field, Zubin Mucherji finished first for the Hoosiers and third overall with a time of 1:03.72. Daniel Kuhn ran unattached and placed one sport behind Mucherji in fourth (1:04.24).
Natalie Price kicked off her sophomore campaign with topping the podium in the 300-meter with a time of 38.47. Megan Grabowski took sixth in the event in a time of 40.31.
Jenna Jungels had a podium finish in the 200-meter as she took third overall, notching a time of 25.70.
The Hoosiers saw a strong performance in the women's mile has they took the top five spots. Bailey Hertenstein led the pack of Hoosiers as she crossed in a time of 4:49.25. Haley Harris took second with a time of 4:50.58. Hannah Stoffel (4:50.66), Grace Walther (4:54.83), and Josey Korte (4:57.58) finished next, respectively. On the men's side Dustin Horter ran unattached as he crossed the finish line first in a time of 4:11.52. Joe Murphy had a strong performance as he finished in fourth place (4:12.98).
Indiana's strength continued in the women's 1,000-meter as Haley Harris (2:45.95) took first and teammate Hannah Stoffel (2:52.62) took third. Jenna Barker (2:54.67) finished fifth to round out the top five. For the men, Cooper Williams (2:23.91) and Teddy Browning (2:25.00) went back-to-back in to finish first and second. Kenneth Hagen (2:25.86) ran unattached to complete the top three.
Lexa Barrott was the lone Hoosier to compete in the 3,000-meter as she notched the top spot with a time of 9:35.51. Jackson Jett was the first Hoosier to cross the finish line as he snagged second overall in a time of 8:26.31. Reese Jordan ran in his first indoor meet of his career and didn't let the pressure get to him as finished third in a time of 8:26.52.
The 4x400 relays topped off the night, as men's relay A team consisting of Derek Grimmer, Williams, Jalen Royal, and Mucherji took home first in a time of 3:14.97. The women's relay A team consisting of Egbula, Grabowski, Jeyland Valentin, and Natalie Price notched third in a tieme of 3:48.81.
Indiana received strong performance in field events.
The women's weight throw kicked off the field events as Nycia Ford saw a third-place finish with a distance of 19.90m. Nick Lane had a solid performance on the men's side as he placed second with a distance of 19.09m.
Khayla Dawson notched a first-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 16.62m. Madison Pollard came in second for the Hoosiers as she recorded a distance of 16.17m. Willie Morrison had a podium finish in the shot put as he recorded a distance of 18.68m.
Leah Moran led Indiana in the women's triple jump as she nabbed a distance of 12.97m. On the men's side, Eric Bethea kicked off his season with a first-place finish, notching a distance of 15.82m.
Anna Watson pole vaulted to a first-place finish as she cleared a height of 4.05. Adam Coulon took second on the men's side as he cleared a height of 5.10.
Indiana will take the next month off, and return in January when they host the Indiana v. Tennessee Duals on Jan 5.
