BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Five players scored in double figures behind sophomore guard Jaelynn Penn's 20 points and double-doubles from redshirt junior guard Ali Patberg and senior forward Kym Royster as Indiana improved to 9-0 with a 98-74 win over Missouri State on Sunday.
KEY MOMENTS
- Indiana used six different scorers in the first quarter to take a 20-16 lead after one. Penn scored six of her 20 points in the frame, as IU shot 61.5 percent to open up the game. Missouri State (1-6) came out with an 8-2 lead, but the Hoosiers would answer right back with a 8-2 run that tied things up at 10-all with 4:42 remaining. IU pushed its lead to six but the Bears would trim it back down to four at the end of the first, 20-16.
- Using a quick 9-0 run to open the second quarter, Indiana went up by double digits with seven minutes remaining in the first half. Missouri State answered back by coming within four. Royster and Wise combined to change that, with back-to-back buckets and another double-digit lead. IU would eventually take a 42-33 lead into the locker room at halftime. Penn would score 13 of her points in the opening half, as Patberg's stat line was also stuffed with six points, six rebounds and eight assists.

QUOTABLE
Indiana head coach Teri Moren
"I am pleased with the afternoon, and especially with how we were able to execute. I thought we shot the ball better from inside the ark and outside the ark. I thought Ali Patberg was especially terrific today with sharing the ball. The rest of our pieces just found ways to score whether it was Jaelynn, Bendu, or Brenna. Kym, I thought, had a quiet double-double, but that's okay. One of the areas, as a staff, we were disappointed with was that we felt we were not as sound on the defensive end, especially in transition. I give Missouri State credit. They hit some outside shots today and they got hot there, but the good thing is we were still able to put points on the board, which sort of kept them at bay. So, good from an offensive standpoint, but we have to continue to get better on the defensive end."
UP NEXT
Indiana will take a break for finals week and return to close out the non-conference season at the Puerto Rico Classic on Dec. 19-21.
