BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Women's Soccer (1-1-1) continues its four-game road swing this weekend as the Hoosiers head to California to face a pair of West Coast Conference teams. IU will square off against Pepperdine (1-3-0) on Friday before ending the weekend at Loyola Marymount (2-1-1).
Both games will be streamed for free by the West Coast Conference on TheW.TV.
SCOUTING THE WAVES
Pepperdine, who has been ranked as high as No. 18 in the United Soccer Coaches poll this year, received votes in this week's rankings. The Waves advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament last year, finishing the 2017 campaign 15-3-3. This season, Pepperdine is off to a 1-3-0 start, defeating Brown and falling to Kansas, Texas Tech and No. 8 USC. The loss to USC on Sunday was the Waves' first home loss since 2016 and marked the first time they had surrendered a goal at home since 2016. The Waves were tabbed to finish second in the Preseason West Coast Conference Coaches Poll. Pepperdine's offense has been shut out three times this year with Joelle Anderson scoring the lone goal of the season. Zoe Clevely (0.91 goals against average, 9 saves, 1-3-0 record) and Brielle Preece (2.76 goals against average, 2 saves, 1-1-0 record) have split time in goal.
The Waves lead the all-time series against Indiana, 1-0, with the only previous meeting coming in 2012.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
The Lions are 2-1-1 on the young season including a pair of wins last weekend against Northeastern and Loyola. To open the season, Loyola Marymount drew with Bowling Green and lost to No. 11 Texas A&M. Sarina Bolden leads the LMU offense with a pair of goals while Sydney Schultz has accounted for two assists. In goal, Charlee Pruitt has played every minute, collecting 10 saves with a 1.42 goals against average. The Lions went 9-6-4 last season and were picked to finish fifth in the Preseason West Coast Conference Coaches Poll.
Sunday marks the third-ever meeting between Indiana and LMU. Both previous games resulted in draws, most recently a 2007 1-1 tie in Bloomington.
