OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Coming off a second-place finish at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational to open the 2018-19 season, the Indiana men's golf team will play in the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club. This marks the 12th straight season that the Hoosiers have played in this event.
The 3-day event annually features one of the best fields in all of collegiate golf and this season is no different, as teams from across the country converge on the site of the 2003 U.S. Open that was won by Jim Furyk.
The 14-team field will play 18 holes each day with tee times beginning at 9:00 a.m. ET the first two days and 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

1) Jake Brown (R-Sr.; 73.63)
2) Brock Ochsenreiter (Jr.; 73.91)
3) Jack Sparrow (R-Sr.; 75.54)
4) Ethan Shepherd (So.; 75.15)

Mix of Young and Old
The lineup this week features a strong mix of young and old, with a pair of redshirt seniors and an experience junior to go along with a sophomore and a true freshman making debut in the team lineup.
Jake Brown and Jack Sparrow anchor the lineup as fifth-year seniors while Brock Ochsenreiter has been a mainstay in the lineup in his two-plus seasons. At the opposite end of the spectrum you have sophomore Ethan Shepherd, who has 26 collegiate rounds to his name and Mitch Davis playing in just his second collegiate tournament, but it is his first time in the team lineup.
About the Course
The club is home to several premier events including the 2015 U.S. Amateur. Olympia Fields has
hosted two U.S. Opens, three PGA Championships, five Western Opens and a U.S. Senior Open among other high-level tournaments.
Top Returners
On paper, the two top returners are redshirt senior Jake Brown and junior Brock Ochsenreiter. Brown is coming off an individual appearance in the NCAA Bryan Regional, where he finished T14 at 1-under par. Ochsenreiter narrowly missed an individual bid to the NCAA postseason and comes in at the top spot in the lineup to start the year after winning the 6-round qualifier the team had leading up to the start of the year.
Newcomers
The Hoosiers welcome a pair of freshmen to the fold this season, and both will be making their collegiate debuts as individuals at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational. Mitch Davis (Valparaiso, Ind.) is a heralded recruit from the state of Indiana that has had a decorated junior career in the state and on the national stage. Harry Reynolds (Greenville, S.C.) won multiple times in South Carolina on the junior circuit and helped his high school team to their fifth straight team championship.
Tournament #1 Recap – Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational
The Indiana Hoosiers opened the 2018-19 season with a solid second place showing at the inaugural Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational, posting a team score of 846 (282-284-280; -18). It is the best team score since 2016 and the Hoosiers were led by Ethan Shepherd and his score of 210 (70-73-67; -6) to tie for fifth, which was a career-best finish and was capped off with his career-best 18-hole score in the final round (67). Jack Sparrow (T7), Evan Gaesser (T10) and Jake Brown (T12) also finished inside the top 10. Mitch Davis, competing in his first collegiate tournament, tied for seventh at 5-under par.
