
Receveur Wins Meet of Champions; Hoosiers Sweep the Meet

BRONX, N.Y. – The Indiana University men's and women's cross country teams swept the Meet of Champions hosted by Iona Friday morning. A total of 20 teams competed in this meeting including Columbia and Miami (Ohio).
The men's team finished with a total of 55 points with Columbia taking second with a total of 67 points. The women's team tied with Columbia with a total of 30 points each and the Hoosiers earned the victory after the tiebreaker.
The men's team was led by junior Kyle Mau who ran with the front pack through for the entire race and finished third overall with the time of 25:06.9. Freshman Dustin Horter was the next Hoosier to cross the finish line at 25:40.8, taking tenth place, followed by teammate Reese Jordan who secured 12th place with the time of 25:44.1.
Junior Bryce Millar led the next pack of Hoosiers across the finish line within the top-20 finishers. The Syracuse, N.Y. native finished 14th overall with the time of 25:48.1 with junior Kyle Burks (25:50.5) and sophomore Hunter Moore (25:54.4) finishing right behind taking 16th and 17th overall. Senior Joe Murphy, graduate student Kenneth Hagen, freshman Aaron Bennett and sophomore Teddy Browning rounded out the field for the Hoosiers.
On the women's side senior Katherine Receveur led the team to victory as she crossed the finish line ten seconds before Erin Gregoire of Columbia who took second. Receveur collects her first victory of the season with the time of 17:30.8 on the 5k Van Courtlandt Park course. Senior Maggie Allen ran out front with Receveur for the majority of the race and secured third place with the time of 17:43.3.
Freshman Sarah Schmitt led the second group of Hoosiers across the finish line as she finished seventh overall with the time of 17:49.8. Teammates Lexa Barrott (17:55.5) and Haley Harris (17:59.2) finished right behind Schmitt, taking the ninth and tenth place spots. Senior Haley Harris secured the win for the Hoosiers in the tiebreaker with Columbia as she beat Abigail McLaughlin by two seconds.
Junior Kelsey Harris (18:21.2) and freshman Claire Hamilton (18:21.5) finished side-by-side taking 15th and 16th place. Freshman Bailey Hertenstein, sophomore Hannah Stoffel, freshman Josey Korte, and sophomore Joely Pinkston closed the field for the Hoosiers.
The Hoosiers will travel to Madison, Wis. in two weeks to compete in the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday, September 28.
