
Hoosiers Finish Seventh and Fourteenth at Nuttycombe Invite

MADISON, Wis. – The Indiana University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 10th-annual Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Friday afternoon.
The women's team arrived in Madison, Wis. ranked 19th in the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) National Coaches' Poll and were predicted to finish 11th based off their ranking. They finished seventh overall with a total of 208 points beating Big Ten foe Michigan State and Iowa State (Big 12). Michigan State came in ranked 15th by USTFCCCA and finished 8th overall with 268 points while Iowa State was ranked 17th and finished 9th overall with 276 points.
Senior Maggie Allen led the Hoosiers through the 6k Championship course as she finished 18th overall with the time of 20:07.9. Senior Katherine Receveur was the second Hoosier to cross the finish line in 20:14.4, taking 24th place. Sarah Schmitt finished in the top-50 as a freshman claiming the 48th spot finishing in 20:42.2 with teammate Bailey Hertenstein finishing close behind taking 55th (20:49.0). Junior Lexa Barrott rounded out the top-5 finishers for the Hoosiers when she took 63rd place with the time of 20:53.7, making the spread between the first and fifth Hoosiers 46.2 seconds. Senior Haley Harris and junior Kelsey Harris closed the field for the Hoosiers.
Three Hoosiers wore their cream and crimson during the women's 6k B race. Freshman Claire Hamilton was the first to cross the finish for Indiana claiming 18th place with the time of 21:36.6. Sophomore Hannah Stoffel finished 37th overall with the time of 21:56.9 and freshman Josey Korte took 74th with the time of 22:42.3.
On the men's side the Hoosiers enter the meet ranked 29th in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll and they finished 14th overall with a total of 404 points, beating four teams who traveled to Madison, Wis. with higher rankings including Big Ten competition Michigan State. Iona came in ranked 16th and finished 18th overall with 514 points while Villanova was ranked 27th and finished 20th with a total of 533 points.
Junior Kyle Mau led the team as he took 22nd place with the time of 23:45.9 in the 8k Championship race. Freshman Dustin Horter was the second Hoosier to cross the finish line with the time of 24:16.2, which earned him 71st place. Junior Bryce Millar claimed 79th place (24:20.7) with freshman Arjun Jha finishing eight seconds behind and taking 100th place with the time of 24:28.3. Senior Kyle Burks, freshman Reese Jordan and sophomore Hunter Moore rounded out the field for Indiana.
The men's B 8k race featured five Hoosiers. with Joe Murphy being the first to cross the finish earning a second place finish with the time of 24:45.6. Senior Kenneth Hagen claimed 26th place with the time of 25:25.9 with sophomore Teddy Browning finishing close behind at 25:29.1, earning 29th place. Freshman Aaron Bennett (26:00.6) and sophomore Cooper Williams (26:26.5) rounded out the race for Indiana.
The Hoosiers will be back in action on Friday, October 12 at Bradley University to compete in the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill.
