Gutman’s Goal Leads No. 6 Indiana Past No. 18 UConn

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 6-ranked Indiana University men's soccer team defeated the No. 18 UConn Huskies, 1-0, on Sunday night in the 2018 adidas/IU Credit Union Classic at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
KEY MOMENTS
• In the 41st minute, Andrew Gutman buried a header at the near post off a great corner kick from Trevor Swartz to give Indiana (3-1) a 1-0 lead. The goal was Gutman's second of the season on the third assist of the year for Swartz.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Trey Muse made a huge save in the 61st minute, stopping a UConn (2-2) breakaway to keep the lead 1-0 in favor of the Hoosiers. Muse ended the match with two saves.
NOTABLES
• The win was Indiana's third-straight over a ranked opponent, a first for the program since the 2012 season. IU also tallied victories at No. 3 North Carolina and against No. 22 Dartmouth.
• Indiana is the only team in the country to play four ranked opponents in the first four games of the season – also a program first.
• IU also recorded a third-straight shutout over a ranked opponent. The Hoosiers also accomplished that feat in 2017.
• Muse's shutout was his second of the season, pushing his career total to 20. The sophomore is one of only 12 Hoosier keepers in program history to record at least 20 blank sheets.
• Indiana has scored six goals on eight assists this season. Swartz leads the team with three assists, while Gutman is tied with Griffin Dorsey for the team lead in goals with two each.
• Gutman was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the 2018 adidas/IU Credit Union Classic after recording two game-winning goals and an assist on the weekend.
• Joining Gutman on the All-Tournament Team for IU were A.J. Palazzolo and Rece Buckmaster.
• Despite matching 2-0 records on the weekend, No. 24 Notre Dame was declared the winner of the tournament ahead of IU on goal differential (+5).
