No. 2 Hoosiers Head to Evansville on Friday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana University men's soccer team will face in-state rival Evansville on Friday night.
The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. ET start on Friday at McCutchan Stadium. No live stream will be available for the match, but live stats can be found at IUHoosiers.com.
SETTING THE SCENE
• The No. 2-ranked Indiana Hoosiers will head south to face in-state rival Evansville, on Friday, Sept. 21 at McCutchan Stadium.
• The Hoosiers enter the match riding a six-game win-streak that includes wins over four ranked opponents - North Carolina, Dartmouth, UConn and Notre Dame.
• On Sunday the Hoosiers began Big Ten play with a 3-1 victory at Wisconsin. Cory Thomas opened the scoring for IU, while Andrew Gutman netted a pair of goals, giving him a team-best five on the season.
SCOUTING THE PURPLE ACES
• The Evansville Purple Aces enter Friday's match with the Hoosiers with an overall record of 1-3-3 on the season.
• Despite the record, Evansville defeated the only other ranked team they have faced this season, beating No. 17 Grand Canyon, 1-0, at home on Sept. 7.
• The Purple Aces were picked to finish seventh in the seven-team Missouri Valley Conference in a preseason poll conducted of the league's coaches.
• Last season, Evansville posted a record of 11-8-2.
SERIES HISTORY
• In the overall series between the Hoosiers and the Purple Aces, Indiana leads 29-4-3.
• The Hoosiers have won 15-straight matches in the series and are unbeaten in the last 19 games, posting a record of 18-0-1.
• IU's last loss came on Nov. 25, 1990, when the Purple Aces beat the Hoosiers in Evansville, 1-0, in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.
• All-time, Indiana is 9-4-2 in Evansville.
• Last season, the Hoosiers beat the Purple Aces, 4-0, in Bloomington thanks to a pair of goals from Mason Toye, as well as Andrew Gutman and Thomas Warr.
GUTJAHR NAMED SENIOR CLASS CANDIDATE
• Senior MF Jeremiah Gutjahr was named one of 30 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award.
• From the list of 30 candidates, a committee will select ten finalists for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award. Those 10 names will then be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote. Fan balloting will be coupled with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award.
BALANCED ATTACK
• Through seven matches this season, Indiana has already had eight different players score goals, led by Andrew Gutman with five.
• Nine different players have tallied assists, led by Trevor Swartz (8) and Spencer Glass (3).
• In 2017, 12 different players scored goals, while 15 had assists.
HOOSIERS WIN AT NO. 8 NOTRE DAME
• Indiana earned the team's fourth win over a ranked opponent on Sept. 11, beating No. 8 Notre Dame, 2-1, in overtime in South Bend.
• After falling behind in the 71st minute, A.J. Palazzolo headed home the equalizer for IU in the 79th.
• In overtime, Justin Rennicks scored the match-winner in the 93rd minute to give Indiana the win.
• The win was the first for Indiana in South Bend since Nov. 25, 2012.
