Hoosiers Face First Road Meet at Kentucky

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Indiana Track & Field will see their first road meet of the season when they travel to Lexington, Ky. for the two-day Jim Green Invitational on Friday, Jan. 11. Long jump is set to kick off the meet on Friday at 4 p.m. EST.
Friday and Saturday's meet will feature three teams that appeared in the USTFCCCA Men's Indoor Track & Field Preseason Rating Index including the Hoosiers who rank 11th. Alabama is the highest ranked of the field coming in no No.7 while fellow Big Ten team Ohio State rounds out the Top-25 at No. 25.
Other schools who will see competition at the Invite are, Akron, Alabama A&M, Arkansas State, Ball State, Bellarmine, Berea, Butler, Cincinnati, Cumberlands, Eastern Kentucky, IUPUI, Lindsey Wilson, Miami (Ohio), Southern Illinois, Southern Indiana, Tennessee Tech, and Xavier.
Schedule of Events
Day one of the meet will three events— One track event and two field events.
The order of events—Men's and women's weight throw, high jump, Distance Medley Relay.
Day two of the Jim Green Invitational will consist of 12 events— eight track events and four field events.
Order of track events—60m hurdles (prelims), 60m (prelims), 60m hurdles (finals), 60m (finals), mile, 400m, 800m, 200m, 3000m, and 1600m relay.
Order of field events—Long jump, shot put, pole vault, triple jump.

For fans traveling to the meet, admission to the events is free while Kentucky Athletics will offer free parking in lot C-6 (Green) lot.
Last Time out
Indiana is coming off a weekend that saw them sweep rival Tennessee. The women's team on 67-55 while on the men's side, they secured a 72-50 victory. Cooper Williams came out strong as he secured the fastest time in the nation in the mile with a time of 4:04.55. Khayla Dawson and Anna Watson also broke meet records in their respective events while Watson also set a new personal record. Also setting a new PR in the new year was Kelsey Harris who ran a 4:48.99 in the mile. Princess Brinkley kept the steak of setting PR's alive when she threw a distance of 19.69m (64'7.25") in the women's weight throw. The Hoosiers overall saw four new PR's and two meet records broken.
Keeping Up with the Hoosiers
The national rankings received an upgrade after a record setting performance by the Hoosiers during the Tennessee Duals. Cooper Williams (mile) joins his teammates Kelsey Harris (1,000m), Rikkoi Brathwaite (60m), and Eric Bethea (Lo as NCAA leaders in their respective events.
Brathwaite and Zubin Muncherji have seen success in their college careers, but also have had success in their home countries. Brathwaite is a native of the British Virgin Islands and now holds the country's record in the 60-meter with a time of 6.68. Muncherji calls Singapore home and holds four records in various events including the 200m (22.60), 400m (47.82), 500m (1;04.38), and 600m (1:21.99).

USTFCCCA Released their preseason indoor ratings index on Thursday Jan. 10. The men's team is ranked 11th to start the 2019 Indoor season. There are four Big Ten teams in the Top-25 as the Hoosiers are the highest ranked B1G team. Penn State comes in at No. 14 followed by Wisconsin (16), Illinois (20), and Ohio State (25).

At the two day meet last season, the Hoosiers picked up picked up wins in six events. The six
events were the men's and women's mile and 800m, men's weight throw, and men's triple
jump. In the mile, both squads took all three podium and the top five on the women's side.
