Bloomington, Ind. – An NCAA study released yesterday shows Indiana University's students who participate in intercollegiate athletics continue to graduate at a record pace.
On Wednesday, the NCAA announced that IU scored a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 91 percent, marking the eighth consecutive year that IU Athletics has either established a new record or matched its previous record. The record GSR also reflects steady and dramatic improvement over the 77% GSR in 2011.
"There is nothing from my tenure as athletic director of which I am more proud than dramatically increasing the GSR and setting or equaling eight consecutive records on how well we graduate our students," said IU Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass. "This progress reflects the investments we have made in academic services, the commitment of that staff, and, most importantly, the hard work of our outstanding students."
In addition to the overall success, individual programs stood out. Seven programs earned perfect scores: Men's Golf, Men's Swimming and Diving, Field Hockey, Women's Golf, Softball, Women's Swimming and Diving and Women's Tennis.
