Indiana Hosts Gannon in Tuesday Exhibition

THE COACHES
Indiana Coach Archie Miller begins his third season of guiding the Cream and Crimson. Last year, the Hoosiers finished 19-16 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NIT. He is 174-94 in eight years as a head coach, which includes six years at the University of Dayton. His Flyer teams made NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his last four seasons, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014. He is 35-31 at IU. Gannon Coach Kelvin Jefferson is in his first year with the Golden Knights. He came to GU from Old Dominion where he was an assistant for three seasons. Gannon is a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and was 11-18 last season.
NEWS & NOTES
The Hoosiers are 26-0 against non-Division I teams in exhibition play since 2004-05. All of the games have been played in Bloomington and 14 of those victories have come against schools from Indiana. Last year, IU defeated Southern Indiana, 96-62, in exhibition play.
MARQUETTE LOOK BACK
The two teams squared off in a closed scrimmage on Sunday, October 20 in Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The Hoosiers held Marquette to 26.7 percent shooting in the second half and 23.5 percent from three-point range in the final 20 minutes. IU made 5 of 10 three-point field goals.
Freshman Armaan Franklin led IU with 14 points. Junior Al Durham, junior Joey Brunk and freshman Trayce Jackson-Davis each had 11 points. Brunk and sophomore's Damezi Anderson and Race Thompson led IU with 7 boards apiece. Anderson also had a team-high 2 steals. Junior Justin Smith added 9 points and 3 assists and redshirt freshman Jerome Hunter had 7 points and 2 steals.

Indiana will open the 2019-20 season at home against Western Illinois on November 5 at 7 p.m. in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
