Hoosiers Close Regular Season at No. 22 Michigan, Michigan State

The Win over Michigan State
In their final home match of the season, the Hoosiers earned a sweep over Michigan State on Sunday. The IU senior class combined for 38/49 kills in the match with Kendall Beerman and Megan Sloan each recording 10 kills. Hayden Huybers had seven kills and hit .500 in the match. Freshman Emily Fitzner recorded a double-double with 37 assists and 10 digs. The Hoosiers hit .347 in the match and averaged 16.3 kills per set.
Hoosiers Sign Elite Recruiting Class
On Nov. 13, IU head coach Steve Aird announced the Hoosiers 2020 signing class. The class features three top-100 ranked players, the most in IU program history and three Under Armour All-Americans, also the most in program history.
"The 2020 class is exceptional and addresses many of the program's needs as we continue to build," IU head coach Steve Aird said. "We have acquired great size and skill, but most importantly we have acquired a group with exceptional character. Their resumes are solid and they received plenty of accolades and recognition, but that is not what is important to them. The group really, truly believes in where we are headed. They care about each other and they want Indiana to have massive success."
Lofton Reaches 400
Against Iowa senior Deyshia Lofton recorded her 400th career block to become the eighth player in program history to reach that mark. Lofton has since moved into seventh in program history for career blocks and currently has 411 career blocks. She needs six blocks to move into sixth on the list.
Indiana Block Party
The Hoosiers rank ninth in the Big Ten in blocking at 2.31 blocks per set. Indiana has recorded double-digit blocks in 11 matches this season, including 17 blocks in their win over Kentucky. Indiana tallied a season-high 18.5 blocks in their match against Purdue.
The Middle Attack
Seniors Deyshia Lofton and Jacqui Armer have put up big numbers for the Hoosiers this season. The duo has combined for 399 kills on the season and rank one and two on the team in hitting percentage. Armer hit .520 with 15 kills on 25 swings in the Hoosiers matches at Penn State and Rutgers.
The Hoosier Freshmen
Freshman Emily Fitzner is averaging 10.61 assists per set over the Hoosiers last five matches. Fitzner had a career-high 52 assists in the Hoosiers match against Maryland.
Freshman libero Haley Armstrong ranks 11th in the Big Ten in digs at 3.65 per set. Armstrong has six matches this season with 20 or more digs. Armstrong tallied 23 digs against Maryland.
The Win over Kentucky
The win over Kentucky was a significant win for the program. It was the Hoosiers first victory over Kentucky since 1996. It was also the first win for Indiana over a non-conference ranked opponent since 1998. The last Hoosier win on the road over a ranked opponent was 2013 at Michigan State.
Wilkinson Hall
Wilkinson Hall was dedicated on January 16, 2019. Wilkinson Hall is a multi-use training and performance center that is the new home venue for the Indiana Volleyball and Wrestling programs. The 3,000-seat venue is used as a competition facility for both Indiana Volleyball and Indiana Wrestling, as well as the practice facility for volleyball. Wilkinson Hall is named after IU alumnus Jay Wilkinson and his family, who have an incredible history of support for IU Athletics and its student-athletes. The Hoosiers are averaged 1,809 fans per match this season, which is up from the record average attendance form last season of 1,273. The Hoosiers ranked 13th in the country in total attendance and 24th in the country in average attendance for the season.
