PREVIEW: IU Set to Play Drake and Utah State in Iowa

Bloomington, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team (4-4) will play its only road matches in the month of February when it travels to Des Moines, Iowa for two matches.

A Look at the Bulldogs
• Before playing Utah State on Friday night, Drake is 4-3 after starting off the season on a 4-match win streak. The Bulldogs wins came against Northern Illinois, Tennessee Tech, Purdue, and Illinois State.
• Their first loss came against No. 13 Oklahoma at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend and they followed with losses to Vanderbilt and Dartmouth.
• In the latest ITA rankings put out, the pair of Vinny Gillespie and Barny Thorold are No. 43.
• Last year on March 2 in Bloomington, Drake beat IU, 4-3. Current Hoosiers who got wins on that day were Bennett Crane and Zac Brodney in singles.
A Look at the Aggies
• The Hoosiers will be the final of three matches Utah State is set to play this weekend. The Aggies will begin on Friday with Grand View and Drake.
• This will be the first meeting in program history between IU and USU.
• Utah State has six wins after victories over Weber State, Idaho State, UC Irvine, Washington, Santa Clara, and Montana State.
• In singles, the Aggies are led by sophomores Felipe Acosta, who is 7-1, and Jose Carvajal, who is 5-1. In doubles, junior Sergiu Bucur and freshman Rithvik Bollipalli Carvajal are 3-2, while Acosta and freshman Isaac Arturo Arevalo sit at 2-0.
