Indiana Falls to Tennessee, 11-0

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Indiana baseball (2-3) fell to the Tennessee Volunteers by a score of 11-0 on Saturday evening at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Indiana was limited to just two hits on the night in large part to a strong pitching performance by Tennessee starter Zach Linginfelter.
KEY MOMENTS
• Tennessee's Ricky Martinez got the scoring started in the bottom of the second with an infield RBI single. Later, a fielder's choice and an error allowed another run to make it a 2-0 game.
• Following a sacrifice bunt RBI, the Vols' Jay Charleston singled to center, plating another run to increase the Tennessee lead to 4-0.
• The Volunteers strung together four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to increase their lead to eight runs. Martinez got it started with a double to right field to score one. Following a wild pitch that added another run, Jake Rucker singled to center to make it a 7-0 game. Charleston then reach on an error to bring the lead to eight.
• Tennessee added three more runs in the seventh and the eighth on a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly and an error.
NOTES
• Junior starting pitcher Tanner Gordon went 4.1 innings allowing four earned runs and striking out three.
• Drew Ashley stole a career-high two bases, as he took second and third in the first inning. The sophomore now has three swipes in his career.
• Sophomore Sam Crail hit the first triple of his career in the fifth inning.
• Three Hoosiers, sophomore Braden Scott, freshman Matt Litwicki and freshman Tyler Van Pelt, made their debut in an IU uniform.
