
Hoosiers Head Home With a Pair of Second Place Finishes at Big Ten Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich.— Indiana Track & Field added two more individual titles on the final day of competition at Big Ten Championships. Garnering the best finish under head coach Ron Helmer, the women's team placed second with a final team score of 83 points. After a strong second day, the Indiana men held on to second place as they ended the championships with 91 points.
Eric Bethea captured his second Big Ten Championship in the triple jump after notching a distance of 15.99m (52' 5.5"). Leah Moran had a strong outing as she took silver in the women's triple jump with a distance of 12.95m (42' 6").
Adam Coulon was crowned a Big Ten Champion as he was the lone competitor to clear a height of 5.44m (17' 10.25"). The junior also broke the U-M Indoor Track building record. Brock Mammoser had a solid day with a podium finish after clearing a height of 5.14m (16' 10.25") on the first attempt.
After capturing gold in the 3000m, Ben Veatch returned to the track on Saturday to compete in the 5000m. Changing gears on the last lap, the sophomore turned in a 28.02 on the last lap to take silver with a time of 13:53.81. On the women's side, Katherine Receveur brought home bronze in a time 16:18.94. Maggie Allen placed fifth in the event with a time of 16:22.4.
Rikkoi Brathwaite was the first Hoosier to compete on the track as he notched fourth in the 60m with a time of 6.71.
In a highly contested mile, Kyle Mau was able to snag second as he clocked a time of 4:03.47. Joe Murphy picked up the last podium spot with a time of 4:07.75.
Cooper Williams remained poised in the 800m as he notched s second place finish with a time of 1:48.76 for a new facility record. Adam Wallace returned to the event where he snagged sixth in a time of 1:51.05. With a strong kick at the end, Kelsey Harris was able to race to a bronze medal finish in the 800m with a time of 2:05.88. Joely Pinkston placed eight in a time of 2:11.18 to make the podium.
Natalie Price and Mallory Mulzer went 5-6 in the 600m. Price picked up a time of 1:30.69 while Mulzer crossed in a time of 1:31.25. On the men's side, Zubin Muncherji remained strong as he grabbed sixth (1:19.05).
In the field, Khayla Dawson and Maddy Pollard went 3-5 in the women's shot put. Dawson shot s distance of 17.05m (55' 11.25") while teammate Pollard saw a distance of 16.69m (54' 9.25"). On the men's side Willie Morrison cranked out a distance of 18.35m (60' 2.5").
In the women's high jump, Hope Purcell nabbed fifth place after clearing a height of 1.68m (5' 6").
The 4x400 relay was the finale of Big Ten Championships as the men's team clocked a time of 3:11.71.
Up next, a group of Hoosiers will travel to Birmingham, Ala. on Mar. 8-9 for NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
