BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team returned home and secured a 5-2 victory against Michigan State on Sunday at the IU Tennis Center.
The Hoosiers (12-7, 2-2) got off to a good start as Natalie Whalen and Caitlin Bernard won their doubles match, 6-2. Michelle McKamey and Somer Henry clinched the doubles point for Indiana with a 6-3 win.
Indiana continued the momentum on to singles, where they won four out of 6 first sets.
Michigan State (11-8, 2-3) got the first point in singles to even the match 1-1.
From there the Hoosiers reeled off three straight singles wins in straight sets, ended with a 6-3, 6-4 win from McKamey to clinch the match for the Hoosiers. Madison Appel and Somer Henry also won matches for Indiana in that stretch.
Natalie Whalen added a point for the Hoosiers with a 6-2, 6-4 win.
Up next the Hoosiers continue Big Ten play on the road at Nebraska on Friday March 29 and at Iowa on Sunday March 31.
