• Indiana baseball returns to Bart Kaufman Field on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. midweek game against the Kent State Golden Flashes.
• Wednesday will be the fourth ever meeting between IU and Kent State, as the two squads last met on March 6, 2010, a 3-0 victory for the Hoosiers.
• Indiana leads the all-time series between the two schools, 3-0.
• Indiana Head Coach Jeff Mercer is in his first season with the Hoosiers and his 10th overall year in coaching collegiately. He has posted an 92-56 career record after leading Wright State to winning seasons in each of his two years with the Raiders, including a 2018 Horizon League title and NCAA Regional appearance.
• Kent State head coach Jeff Duncan is in his sixth season at the helm of the Golden Flashes baseball program. He has guided KSU to two MAC Tournament titles (2014, 2018) and back-to-back-to-back regular season conference crowns in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
• Indiana is coming off a series sweep over the Iowa Hawkeyes this past weekend. Head coach Jeff Mercer became the first head coach in program history to earn a sweep in his Big Ten opening series (three game series minimum).
• The Hoosiers, who outscored the Hawkeyes 23-4 on the weekend, have won eight games in a row dating back to March 23. The eight-game winning streak is its longest since posting a nine-game streak last season from April 7th to the 20th.
• IU is 9-0 at Bart Kaufman Field this season and in the stadium's seven-year history, the Hoosiers boast a record of 121-37-1 (.764).
• Freshman Grant Richardson and junior Tanner Gordon swept the Big Ten weekly awards on Monday. Richardson was named the Big Ten Player and Freshman of the Week, while Gordon earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors. It marked the first weekly awards for both players in their career.
• It is the first time in program history that Indiana has earned all three weekly awards. Additionally, the Hoosiers have earned at least one weekly award the last four weeks, which hasn't happened since the 3014 season.
• Richardson hit .471 on the week with two home runs, 11 RBI, two doubles and a stolen base. In last Tuesday's win at Indiana State, he went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI.
• In his first nine career games, he is hitting .417 with 15 hits, 11 runs, three home runs and 17 RBI (tied for second on the team).
• Gordon fanned a career-high 12 batters against the Hawkeyes on Saturday, besting last's weeks 10-strikeout effort against Canisius. In his last two starts, the junior righty has struck out 22 batters, while allowing just seven hits and two earned runs in 15 innings.
• Indiana leads the conference in runs (153), RBI (137), slugging percentage (.466), and home runs (34).
• Since the start of the 2008 season, Indiana leads the Big Ten in wins (399) and conference wins (164). The Hoosiers have made six NCAA Regionals over that span, the most out of any current Big Ten team.
