Water Polo Hosts McKendree University for their Final Regular Season Game

Bloomington, Ind. – The Indiana University women's water polo team is set to host McKendree University in their final game of the regular season this Saturday in the Counsilman Billingsley Aquatic Center.
Last Action
The Hoosiers enter this Saturday's game after spending the weekend out west for a pair of Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference games. Indiana dropped their first game of the weekend 8-6 to No. 21 San Jose St. before falling short to No. 4 California with a 17-5 final score.
Junior Megan Abarta led the Hoosiers in scoring collecting 5 goals across the two-game spread to go with two assists in the game against the Bears. Joining her efforts was freshman Tina Doherty with another two goals against California for a season high of 37.
On the defensive end, goalkeeper Mary Askew registered 18 saves between the two games, swiping 12 saves against the Spartans and another six against the Bears. Seven Hoosiers grabbed at least one steal throughout the weekend with Doherty collecting three against Cal.
Scouting the Bearcats
McKendree holds an 11-12 overall record with a 1-2 record in the Western Water Polo Association conference. The Bearcats last saw action two weeks ago where they hosted a four-game weekend. McKendree took home three wins from the weekend including a double overtime victory against Mercyhurst University.
All-Time Series
This weekend's matchup will mark the second meeting in program history for the Hoosiers and the Bearcats. The two have met just once before during the 2018 season where Indiana collected a 14-3 victory over McKendree in the Hoosiers own Counsilman Billingsley Aquatic Center.
Indiana looks to add a second win to their all-time series record over the Bearcats in their final game of the 2019 regular season.

• The Hoosiers have scored 19 combined hat tricks from six different players so far this season. Leading scorer Tina Doherty has tallied seven, while Hannah Falls-Hand has five and Izzy Mandema has another three.
