Hoosiers Move On in Big Ten Tournament

Ann Arbor, Mich. – The No. 5 seed Indiana men's tennis team (14-11) advanced to the second round of the Big Ten Tournament with a 4-0 win over the No. 12 seed Michigan State Spartans (6-21) on Thursday morning at the Varsity Tennis Center.
The Hoosiers won the doubles point and the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5 singles spots.
IU began the tournament with victories from Bennett Crane/Zac Brodney at No. 2 doubles and Antonio Cembellin/Patrick Fletchall at No. 3 doubles.
The Hoosiers came away with first set wins in singles from all but one position. Bennett Crane increased the Indiana lead to 2-0 when he took the No. 2 spot, 6-0, 6-1. Crane won his 10thmatch in dual play this season.
On the No. 5 court, Andrew Redding went ahead 6-2 and then rolled to a 6-0 second set win for the straight-set defeat.
Zac Brodney sealed the win over the Spartans when his match on No. 3 ended in his favor, 6-3, 6-3. Brodney is 7-2 in his last 10 matches with a result.
The Hoosiers return to action tomorrow, April 26 at 10 AM against the No. 4 seed Michigan Wolverines. Earlier this season, IU fell to the Wolverines, 5-2.
Prior to the match, Antonio Cembellin was selected to the All-Big Ten First Team.
