Indiana Falls to No. 12 Louisville, 5-0

LOUISVILE, Ky. – Indiana Field Hockey opened up the 2019 season by traveling to Louisville, Ky. to play No. 12 Louisville. The Hoosiers put up a fight, but eventually fell 5-0 to the Cardinals.
KEY MOMENTS
• In the first quarter the Cardinals went up early as they tallied a goal at the 11:19 mark. Sachi Ananias had three save throughout the quarter.
• The Hoosiers generated some offense in the second quarter as they drew a corner that led to senior captain Ciara Girouard firing off a shot but it was saved Louisville's goalkeeper. Tallying three more goals, the Cardinals went into halftime with a 4-0 lead.
• Nearing the end of the third quarter, Hailey Couch earned her first shot of the season but the sophomore couldn't find the back of goal as the keeper was credited with the save.
• It was all defense in the fourth quarter, but Indiana received a strong performance from Ananias and only let up one goal in the quarter. The junior goal keeper also had two key saves to end the contest.
NOTABLES
• Junior goalkeeper Sachi Ananias had nine saves in her first start in goal this season.
• Sophomore forward Hailey Couch and senior midfielder Ciara Girouard had a shot each to lead the Hoosiers.
• Freshman forward Victoria Hill saw her first career start in an Indiana uniform.
• Freshman Kennedy Reardon recorded her first minutes of her Indiana career.

Indiana will return to Bloomington, Ind. for their home opener on Sunday, Sept. 1 vs Drexel. The contest is slated to being at 12 p.m. ET.
