IUFH Travels to Saint Louis for First Full Road Swing

Bloomington, Ind.— Indiana Field Hockey will travel this weekend for their first full road swing of the season. The Hoosiers will face Saint Louis University on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. EST. before remaining in Saint Louis, Mo. to face Fairfield on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 12 p.m. EST. The contest against Fairfield will be the first meeting between Indiana and the Stags.

Last Time: Another Weekend split
The Hoosiers saw another weekend where the 1-1 on the weekend. On Friday, Indiana Field Hockey faced a tough opponent in Miami (OH). Junior Savannah Bucher struck first for the Hoosiers in the third quarter while sophomore Hailey Couch tallied her first goal of the season in the fourth quarter. The Redhawks proved to be too much for the Hoosiers as Miami (OH) won the contest, 5-2.
On Sunday, Indiana hosted Ball State in the weekend finale. In a battle of defense, it was all in the Hoosier captains to secure over the Cardinals. Senior Kelsey Giese eanred the first Indiana goal as senior Ciara Girouard sealed the victory with a fourth quarter goal.
Career Firsts
With the victory over Drexel on Sept. 1, head coach Kayla Bashore earned her first career win at the helm of the field hockey program. On the field, freshmen Tori Hill earned her first career start in an Indiana uniform. Freshman Kennedy Reardon scored her first career goal that was unassisted off a deflected shot. Senior Sheridan Weiss also saw her first game where she had the game winning goal.
Worth Noting
Junior goalkeeper Sachi Ananias enters the weekend ranked No. 1 in the Big Ten in saves per game with 5.75. This puts her 24th in the nation among NCAA field hockey goalkeepers.
Senior Kelsey Giese leads the Hoosiers on the offensive side of the ball as she ranks 35th in the country in assists per game. The captain also checks in a No. 10 in the Big Ten Conference.
