Hoosiers Set to Host Tennessee in First Meet of 2020

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Track & Field returns in the new year by hosting the annual Indiana vs. Tennessee Duals inside Gladstein Fieldhouse on Saturday Jan. 11. The women's long jump, pole vault, and weight throw are tabbed as the first field events of the afternoon while the women's 60m hurdle finals are first up on the oval beginning at Noon.

Schedule of Events
Track schedule of events (women followed by men) – 60m hurdle finals, 60m finals, mile, 400m, 800m, 200m, 3000m, and 4x400 relay.
Field schedule of events – Long jump (women), pole vault (women), weight throw (women), long jump (men), weight throw (men), high jump (men), pole vault (men), shot put (women), triple jump (women), high jump (women), triple jump (men), shot put (men).
Last Time Out: Hoosier Open
The Hoosiers kicked off the season with an early December meet when they hosted the Hoosier Open where four school records fell. Leah Moran added another school record to her resume in the triple jump with a mark of 13.14m (41' 1.5"). Natalie Price snapped the school, meet, and facility record in the women's 500m after clocking a time of 1:09.87. Next, Cooper Williams was able to overcome a 32-year-old record in the 1000m when he crossed the finish line with a time of 2:22.16. Lastly, Rikkoi Brathwaite took down the school record when he nabbed a time of 6.66 in the 60m. In addition to the four school record holders, the Hoosiers also saw another 12 first place finishes and seven new personal bests were set inside Gladstein Fieldhouse.
2019 IU vs. UT Duals
Last season, Indiana swept the Volunteers in team scoring. The women won by a score of 67-55 while the men topped Tennessee 72-50. Princess Brinkley (weight throw), Kelsey Harris (mile), and Cooper Williams (mile) all set personal records. The Hoosier men won nine total events while the women took gold in eight events.
Although the Volunteers hold the all-times series record in the both men's and women series, the Indiana men have won the past four meetings.
Week One Accolades
With meet one in the books, the Hoosiers swept the weekly Big Ten awards on Dec. 18. Leah Moran was awarded the field athlete of the week honor while Natalie Price earned track athlete of the week. After setting a new personal best, Jyles Etienne was named field athlete of the week after winning the high jump with a mark of 2.23m. Rounding out the weekly awards, Rikkoi Brathwaite snagged co-track athlete of the week accolades.
In the USTFCCCA poll
The Indiana men saw their highest ranking since 2011 this week as they were ranked No. 5 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association poll. In 2011, the Hoosiers climbed as high as No. 3 on two different occasions.
Classroom Success
24 Indiana Track & Field student-athletes earned Big Ten Academic Honors on December 11 for their success in the classroom during the 2019 cross country season. On the men's side, Aaron Bennett, Teddy Browning, Jake Gebhardt, Dustin Horter, Arjun Jha, Kyle Mau, Colin Murphy, Matthew Schadler, Skylar Stidam, Ben Veatch, Adam Wallace, and Cooper Williams garnered Academic All-Big Ten Honors. For the women, Jenna Barker, Ana Barrott, Lexa Barrott, Maddie Dalton, Claire Hamilton, Kelsey Harris, Bailey Hertenstein, Kelly Mindak, Mallory Mulzer, Joely Pinkston, Sarah Schmitt and Grace Walther were tabbed for Academic All-Big Ten accolades.
