Hoosiers Set To Host High-Level Indiana Relays This Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Stamped as one of the top meets in the country this weekend, Indiana Track & Field returns to Gladstein Fieldhouse to host Indiana Relays on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. Alexis Hill and Princess Brinkley will compete in the women's weight throw at 5 p.m. on Friday to kick off the meet for the Hoosiers. On Saturday, Hope Purcell and Haley Goines will be the first to compete as they start the pentathlon with the 60m hurdles at 8:30 a.m.
Meet Information
Indiana will welcome 16 teams to the two-day meet. Four of the 16 teams competing this weekend are ranked in the men's top-25. Florida State (1), Wisconsin (16), Iowa State (20) and Illinois (21) are all among the nation's best. Other solid men's and women's competitors include Alabama, California Riverside, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Indiana State, Miami (Oh), Middle Tennessee, Mississippi, Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, Tulsa, and Xavier.
Admission to Indiana Relays is free to the public.

Friday track schedule of events (women followed by men) – 60m hurdles prelims, 60m prelims, mile, distance medley relay, 600m, 200m, 3000m.
Friday field schedule of events – weight throw (women's), pole vault (men's), long jump (women's), long jump (men's).
Saturday track schedule of events (women followed by men) – 60m hurdles final, 60m final, mile fast section, 400m, 800m, 3000m fast section, 4x400-meter relay.
Saturday field schedule of events – Triple jump (women's), shot put (women's), pole vault (women's), triple jump (men's), shot put (women's), long jump (women's), shot put (men's).

Last Time Out: Gladstein Invitational
Indiana returned home last weekend to host the two-day Gladstein Invitational. The Hoosiers raked in 10 victories on day one and picked up another 11 on the second day of competition. Jenna Barker (800m), Arjun Jha (mile), Nathan Stone (pole vault), and Dushawn Tunstall (400m) all raced to new PRs in their respective events. Three freshmen picked up their first wins in an Indiana uniform on Friday night. Lauren Thomas ran a time of 57.37 in the 400m to win the event and capture a new personal best. Janii Jenkins also her first event as a Hoosier in the 400m fast section with a time of 56.65. Grayson Rolen won the men's high jump competition on Saturday with a new PR of 2.02m (6' 7.5").

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association poll released their first regular season ranking on Monday afternoon. The Hoosier men checked in at No. 6 in the nation. In the regional rankings, Indiana holds the top spot on the men's and women's Great Lakes Region.
Classroom Success
24 Indiana Track & Field student-athletes earned Big Ten Academic Honors on December 11 for their success in the classroom during the 2019 cross country season. On the men's side, Aaron Bennett, Teddy Browning, Jake Gebhardt, Dustin Horter, Arjun Jha, Kyle Mau, Colin Murphy, Matthew Schadler, Skylar Stidam, Ben Veatch, Adam Wallace, and Cooper Williams garnered Academic All-Big Ten Honors. For the women, Jenna Barker, Ana Barrott, Lexa Barrott, Maddie Dalton, Claire Hamilton, Kelsey Harris, Bailey Hertenstein, Kelly Mindak, Mallory Mulzer, Joely Pinkston, Sarah Schmitt and Grace Walther were tabbed for Academic All-Big Ten accolades.
