BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – At the first day of the Indiana Classic, the IU Women's Water Polo team finished 2-0, beating St. Francis (PA), 14-6, and No. 25 California Baptist, 15-7. Leading the way for the Hoosiers was sophomore Izzy Mandema, who scored three goals against St. Francis and sophomore Tina Doherty, who scored three goals against California Baptist.

KEY MOMENTS

After trailing early, 2-1, to St. Francis, the Hoosiers rattled off four-straight goals and took a 5-2 lead at the 5:34 mark of the third quarter.
IU and St. Francis traded goals before the Hoosiers scored five more unanswered goals, capped off by Mandema's third goal of the game with 5:56 remaining.
Doherty led off the second game for the Hoosiers scoring the first two goals against California Baptist just 2:02 into the matchup.
An 8-1 run helped the Hoosiers put the game away early, including having an 8-2 lead after the first quarter.
Doherty scored her third goal of the game with 1:07 remaining in the first quarter.

NOTABLES

With two wins on Saturday, the Hoosiers improve their record to 5-5 on the season.
The game against St. Francis was the first matchup between the two schools in school history and the Hoosiers improve to 9-2 all time against California Baptist.
The eight goals scored in the first quarter were the most scored in a quarter by the Hoosiers this season.
Freshmen scored the last five goals of the game for IU against California Baptist.
Freshmen Taylor Wessel and Taryn Zweifel each recorded their first-career goals on Saturday and freshman Lauren Gaudry recorded a career-high and team high three steals against St. Francis.
Freshman Katherine Hawkins scored her first-career goal against St. Francis and then scored two more against California Baptist. Freshman Berta Pascual tied her career highs of two goals and two assists against St. Francis.
Doherty has now scored at least three goals in six of the ten Hoosier games this season.
In only 16 minutes against California Baptist, sophomore Mary Askew recorded 10 saves.
