Emily Goodin Tosses a No-Hitter as Indiana Defeats Bucknell, 13-0

RALEIGH, N.C. – Indiana Softball (4-6) opened play in the Fairfield Crabtree Invitational on a chilly Friday (Feb. 21) afternoon earning a 13-0 run-rule victory over the Bucknell Bison. Senior right-hander Emily Goodin tossed a no-hitter across the five-inning ballgame. It was the second no-hitter of her career for Indiana.

"Really fun day at the ballpark! Emily Goodin with the no-no. Gabbi Jenkins had a a perfect day at the plate, I'm pleased with the production we are getting out of her. Desiree Dufek with another home run. We had double digit hits, double digit runs and a couple of athletes with multi-hit performances. We played clean defense throughout, and had all three phases of the game today."

Indiana Softball continues play in the Fairfield Crabtree Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 22) with another game against Bucknell at 10 AM, and one against host NC State at 3 PM in the afternoon.
KEY MOMENTS
- Indiana loaded the bases in the bottom of the second inning on a pair of singles and a wild pitch. With two away, Taylor Lambert got IU on the board first with a two RBI single she got through the infield in right. Following a stolen base, Gabbi Jenkins extended the lead to four as she hit another two RBI single bringing home Lambert and Tete Hart.
- The Hoosiers added three more in the third inning as Hannah Davis brought home pinch runner Columbia Holeman with double to left center field. Desiree Dufek followed her up with a two-run homer to extend the lead to seven.
- The bats stayed hot in the bottom of the fourth as the Hoosiers put up a six spot. With the bases loaded, Annika Baez took a hit by a pitch to score another before Hannah Davis hit a two RBI single. Katie Lacefield singled to center field extending the lead to 11. IU would finish off the frame with a pair of RBI's from Gabbi Jenkins, totaling 13.

- Senior Emily Goodin tossed the second no-hitter of her career with Indiana pitching her fifth straight complete game in the process with seven strikeouts. Goodin's first no-hitter was during her freshman year on Feb. 24, 2017 against UAB. This was the 28th no-hitter in Indiana Softball history, which includes three perfect games. Goodin becomes the sixth IU pitcher to record multiple no-hitters joining Amy Unterbrink (9), Teresa Raine (3), Meghan Roark (3), Mariangee Bogado (2), and Tara Trainer (2). Trainer threw the most recent no-no for Indiana on April 22, 2018 against Penn State.
- Indiana stole a total of six bases in Friday's (Feb. 21) win. This is their season high so far for 2020. Gabbi Jenkins led the day with two of the six.
- Gabbi Jenkins also had her best day at the plate thus far going 4-4 with four RBIs. She leads the team in hits with 14 and in average at .467
- Sophomore Hannah Davis had a huge day going two-for-three with a season high three RBI's.
- Freshman Desiree Dufek has hit home runs in back-to-back games leading the roster with three. This is the third game this season she has tallied two hits and two RBI's. Both she and Hannah Davis lead the roster with eight each.
