Hoosiers Earn Victories over Cincinnati, Ball State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– The Indiana women's tennis team powered their way to wins over Cincinnati (4-0) and Ball State (6-1) on Sunday at the IU Tennis Center.
In doubles against the Bearcats, the Hoosiers (8-4) won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 doubles to earn the doubles point.
Indiana won three quick first sets and finished with three straight set singles wins, by Alexandra Staiculescu, Michelle McKamey and Mile Mejic to clinch the victory over Cincinnati.
Annabelle Andrinopoulos trailed 1-5 in her first set before coming back to win it, 7-5.
Against Ball State, the Hoosiers had to overcome dropping the doubles point to start the match.
The Hoosiers responded by winning the first set in five of the six singles matches, but still had to battle out three matches that went three sets.
Indiana captured all six singles matches to earn the final tally of 6-1 in the match.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Northwestern for their first Big Ten match of the season on Friday February 28 and return home to host Penn State on Sunday March 1 at 11:00 a.m.
