
Hoosiers Stumble At No. 9 Nebraska On Wednesday Night

LINCOLN, Neb. – In a midweek matchup Indiana Volleyball (8-11, 2-5 Big Ten) was downed by No. 9 Nebraska (14-3, 7-0 Big Ten), 3-0 (13-25, 15-25, 15-25). Senior outside hitter Breana Edwards led the Hoosiers with six kills.
KEY MOMENTS
• Kaley Rammelsberg got the offense going for the Hoosiers with a kill to cut the Nebraska advantage to 5-3 in the opening set. Edwards slammed back-to-back kills as Indiana pulled within three.
• Down 19-11, Camryn Haworth and Rammelsberg threw up a block, but the Huskers attack was too potent and took the first set, 25-13.
• A block by Zumach and Kjolhede got the Hoosiers on the board to open the second set. Down 3-1, an ace by Edwards and slam from Zumach helped tie the frame at 4-4.
• Out of a timeout at 8-4 Huskers, a pair errors by Nebraska and a kill from Mady Saris put Indiana within reach down by just three. Kills by Edwards and Saris put the score 14-9 but a few points by Nebraska forced the Hoosiers to take a break.
• Immediately out of the timeout, Kjolhede slammed one down and made the score 16-10 Huskers. Rammelsberg secured a solo block and made the score 23-15. A pair of errors lead Nebraska to win the second set, 25-15.
• Edwards kicked off the third set with a slam as the Hoosiers took the early 2-0 advantage.
• The Hoosiers turned to Brooke Westbeld who checked into the match down 12-3, giiving Indiana a spark. The Hoosiers saw two-straight kills from Saris and Rammelsberg. A slam followed by an ace from Westbeld cut into the Nebraska lead, 17-9.
• A block by Morgan Geddes and Kjolhede forced the Huskers to call a timeout as the score read 18-11.
• With Nebraska needing just one point to secure the match win, a kill by Rammelsberg and a solo block from Edwards prolonged the match point and the score read 24-15. The Huskers went on to win the final set, 25-15.
