
Hoosiers Fall In Three Sets To No. 12 Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Indiana Volleyball (8-12, 2-6 Big Ten) ended their four-game road slate with a match at No. 12 Minnesota (11-5, 6-2 Big Ten) on Sunday afternoon. Despite hanging around in each set, the Hoosiers dropped the contest to the Gophers, 3-0 (15-25, 16-25, 21-25).
KEY MOMENTS
• Savannah Kjolhede recorded the opening point of the first set with a slam.
• As the Gophers out to a 5-2 lead, Kari Zumach recorded her first kill of the afternoon. Breana Edwards saw back-to-back kills while the Hoosiers tried to stick with Minnesota. Kjolhede scored the last Hoosiers point before the Gophers went on a run to force the Hoosiers into a timeout down 12-7.
• Out of the timeout, Zumach slammed a kill to chip away at the lead.
• Letting the Gophers jump out to a 19-10 advantage, Morgan Geddes and Breana Edwards had two straight kills. A service error and kill by Edwards pulled the Hoosiers within six.
• Kjolhede tried to spark one last offensive effort, but Minnesota took the set one victory, 25-15.
• It was a strong start to the second frame for the Hoosiers as they got out to 4-0 edge. Morgan Geddes came alive to keep the offense going for Indiana as she hit two straight kills to make the score 6-2.
• Back-to-back kills from Edwards and Kjolhede kept the rhythm up for the Hoosiers and they were out to a 11-9 advantage over the Gophers. Geddes put up a solo block to keep a two-point lead, but Minnesota wouldn't go away and caused an Indiana timeout.
• The Hoosiers saw a lead shift, but Geddes kept it one point frame at 14-13. Edwards tried to get the attack going but Minnesota's offense proved too much, and the Hoosiers dropped the second set, 25-16.
• The first three kills for Indiana came from Zumach, Geddes, and Kaley Rammelsberg as the two teams were dead locked at 3-3. Edwards scored three straight kills with the Hoosiers out to an 8-7 lead.
• A block by Rammelsberg and Brook Westbeld gave Indiana its biggest lead of the frame at 14-10.
• Out of a timeout after the Hoosiers let Minnesota back in it, Rammelsberg found the floor to give Indiana the 16-15 lead.
• It was a back-and-forth battle as Edwards tied the set at 20-20. Minnesota got a quick four points but a kill by Zumach prevented the match point. Not able to hang on, the Gophers won the final set, 25-21.

• Senior outside hitter Breana Edwards led the Indiana attacked for the eighth-straight game with 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .300. Edwards also had an ace.
• Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Geddes matched her season-high kills with 10 on Sunday afternoon. Geddes also recorded solo block.
• Junior middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg had a team-high three blocks including one solo. She also tallied two kills.
• Returning to the starting lineup, graduate student setter Brooke Westbeld recorded 32 assists and a block.
