BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Right in the Vic of time.
With just 21 seconds remaining in a second overtime period, Victor Bezerra took a touch from Spencer Glass' pass from the left wing, spun and fired a right-footed shot into the back of the net.
Bezerra and Indiana men's soccer (6-3-1, 2-2-0 B1G) braved the elements Wednesday (Oct. 6) night on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium to defeat Omaha (3-5-1, 1-0-0 Summit), 1-0.
KEY MOMENTS
• Bezerra had two early opportunities to open the scoring, in the 12th and 24th minutes. The first forced a save by Omaha's Nathanael Sallah, and the second missed wide left.
• Omaha had one of its best opportunities in the 42nd minute as Mikkel Fodstad aimed toward the top right corner. IU goalkeeper Roman Celentano was positioned well, however, and made a leaping save to keep the match scoreless.
• Indiana peppered three shots in the final 10 minutes of regulation, including an 80th minute Samuel Sarver shot on target. The Omaha defense survived the onslaught, however, pushing the match into overtime.
• In the 110th minute, Spencer Glass found dribbling space down the left wing. Looking up, he found Bezerra inside the 18-yard box. Bezerra spun, fired and found the back of the net to end the match with 21 seconds remaining.
