• Fifth-year senior wide receiver Ty Fryfogle caught five passes for 51 yards. The senior moved into sixth on IU's career receptions list with 155 and into eighth in the career yardage chart with 2,215.
• Senior safety Raheem Layne posted a career-high nine tackles and matched a career-high with seven solos.
• Senior linebacker Micah McFadden charted seven tackles (6 solos) to improve his career total to 201 stops. He is one of two active Hoosiers to rack up 200-plus career tackles as redshirt senior Marcelino McCrary-Ball is the active career leader with 231 tackles.
• McCrary-Ball added a team-best two PBUs in the game.
• Redshirt junior linebacker Aaron Casey totaled a career-best eight tackles, including a career-high-tying (vs. Idaho) three solo stops, in his first career start. The Douglasville, Ga., native also charted his first TFL of the 2021 season.
• Senior safety Devon Matthews compiled five total tackles for the sixth time this season and third time in as many games.
• Graduate transfer defensive tackle Weston Kramer (Northern Illinois) tallied a career-high five solo tackles and tacked on a TFL, the fifth of his first season in Bloomington. The game marked his 40th career start.
• Redshirt junior Charles Campbell kicked a 47-yard field goal in the second quarter to move to 14-of-17 (82.4 percent) from 40-plus yards in his career. He is 13-of-17 (76.5) this year and 25-of-30 (83.3) in his career (83.3).
• The Jackson, Tenn., native's 25 three-pointers are 10th on the program's all-time list.
• True freshman punter James Evans averaged 44.2 yards on six punts with a long of 49. He hit two inside the 20-yard line, including one inside the 5-yard line.
• Graduate transfer defensive end Ryder Anderson (Ole Miss) and junior offensive lineman Matthew Bedford made the 25th starts of their careers.
• Redshirt junior running back Davion Ervin-Poindexter made his first career start.
• Linebacker Matt Hohlt became the 10th true freshman to take the field this season for Indiana, joining punter James Evans, linebacker Maurice Freeman, defensive back Jordan Grier, running back David Holloman, running back Trent Howland, wide receiver Malachi Holt-Bennett, quarterback Donaven McCulley, and offensive lineman Joshua Sales Jr., and Jordyn Williams.
• Rutgers won the coin toss and chose to defer.
• Today was Indiana's "Salute to Service" game.
• The team voted wide receiver Ty Fryfogle, tight end Peyton Hendershot, linebacker Cam Jones, husky Marcelino McCrary-Ball, linebacker Micah McFadden, and quarterback Michael Penix Jr. season captains.
