
Indiana Volleyball Concludes 2021 Season On The Road

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – To conclude the regular season Indiana Volleyball (10-20, 4-14 Big Ten) enters the Big Ten gauntlet with matches at No. 6 Purdue and No. 5 Wisconsin. The Hoosiers will first face the Boilermakers on Friday, November 26 at 6 p.m. and will conclude the weekend against the Badgers on Saturday, November 27 at 8 p.m. ET.

The Opening Serve
• The Hoosiers are coming off a two-match weekend that closed out the home schedule. Indiana faced No. 24 Illinois this past Friday where they dropped the match 3-0. They then bounced back against Iowa and earned the senior day sweep, 3-0.
• Freshman setter Camryn Haworth currently sits at No. 5 in the Big Ten Conference in aces with 40. She put up a career-high six against Iowa this past Sunday.
• Junior middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg returned to the top-10 in hitting percentage with .352. She is currently No. 8 in the conference.
• Junior defensive specialist Paula Cerame has recorded 464 digs so far in 2021 which is No 9 in the Big Ten.
All-Time Series
• The Boilermakers hold a 73-34 record in the all-time series. The two programs have already met in 2021 where the Hoosiers fell in three sets, 3-0 (17-25, 14-25, 20-25). The last time Indiana got the victory over the Boilermakers was in 2012 where the Hoosiers overcame Purdue, 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 15-25, 25-21).
• Wisconsin currently has a 54-24 advantage in the all-time series. They two teams have yet to meet this season, but previously met for a pair of matches in the spring of 2021 where the Badgers took both matches in straight sets. The last time the Hoosiers won was in 2012 as Indiana took the road match, 4-0 (19-25, 25-17, 30-28, 25-21).

• PURDUE: Dave Shondell is in his 19th season at the helm of the Purdue volleyball program and has coached them to No. 5 in the country. The Boilermakers are 22-5 overall and 14-4 in the Big Ten and are on an eight-game winning streak. In their last eight matches they have won 24 of their 31 sets played. Fifth year outside hitter Caitlin Newton leads the Purdue attacked with 393 kills and a hitting percentage of .215. She is currently third in points (455) and fourth in kills (393) among the Big Ten. She has served up 31 aces which is No. 10 in the conference and leads the Purdue squad. Redshirt senior Hayley Bush does the setting as she has raked in 1024 assists and is averaging 10.24 per set. Bush is sixth in the Big Ten in assists. Sophomore middle blocker Taylor Tremmell has tallied 93 blocks and is averaging 1.33 per set. She is No. 3 in blocks among the conference. Grace Cleveland has a team-high 116 blocks. As a team, the Boilermakers are hitting .255 while they are allowing their opponents to hit just .175. Purdue leads the conference in opponent blocks, allowing them just 1.61 per set.
• WISCONSIN: Kelly Sheffield is the head coach of the Wisconsin volleyball program and is in his ninth season. He has coached them to No. 5 in the country with a record of 23-3 overall and 15-3 in the Big Ten. The Badgers are on a three-game winning streak with wins over Minnesota, Michigan State, and Northwestern. Dana Rettke leads Wisconsin on the attack with 318 kills and a hitting percentage .447. She has the best hitting percentage among the conference. Rettke also the team leader in blocks with 126 and an average of 1.38 per set. Sydney Hilley is their main setter, collecting 1121 assists so far this season. Her assist total leads the Big Ten. Izzy Ashburn is No. 3 in the Big Ten is aces, tallying 40. The Badgers are currently hitting .290 while their opponents are hitting just .165.

The Hoosiers squared off against Iowa where they earned the dominate 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-17) sweep of the Hawkeyes. Camryn Haworth tallied a career high six aces while Ashley Zulauf saw a career-matching three aces. Kari Zumach led the way on the attack with eight kills and hitting percentage of .471. She also led the squad in blocks with four.

• Junior middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg bounced back this past weekend and now has a hitting percentage of .352 on 203 kills. She has also tallied 73 blocks.
• Coming off the bench, graduate student setter Brooke Westbeld has recorded 511 assists and is the squad leader.
• Sophomore middle blocker Savannah Kjolhede leads the team in blocking with 89 blocks. She also has put down 151 kills.
• As the Hoosiers starting libero, junior Paula Cerame is the squad leader in digs with 464.
• The Hoosiers matched their season high of 10 aces in the match against Iowa.
• In the match against the Hawkeyes, Indiana saw their best hitting percentage (.304) since September 16 when they hit 345 against Alabama A&M.
