• The Hoosiers have now faced six ranked opponents, each of which has entered the Top 10 in 2021.
• Jordyn Williams became the ninth true freshman to take the field this season for Indiana, joining punter James Evans, linebacker Maurice Freeman, defensive back Jordan Grier, running back David Holloman, running back Trent Howland, wide receiver Malachi Holt-Bennett, quarterback Donaven McCulley, and offensive lineman Joshua Sales Jr.
• Senior linebacker Micah McFadden's third-quarter sack extended his tackle for loss steak to 14-straight games. He now has 6.5 this season and 14 in his career.
• McFadden's 36.5 career TFLs sit seventh in program history.
• The Tampa native finished with five stops and one quarterback hurry.
• Senior defensive back Devon Matthews brought down his third career interception in the fourth quarter. It is his second pick versus Michigan in his career, as he also picked off the Wolverines in 2020.
• Matthews added seven tackles to his stat line, as well.
• Graduate transfer defensive tackle Weston Kramer (Northern Illinois) secured his second sack of the year and in as many games (5.5 in his career). Kramer added six tackles to his stat line.
• Redshirt senior husky Bryant Fitzgerald recorded the first sack of his career in the second quarter. He finished with seven tackles to surpass the century mark in his career.
• Fitzgerald's seven tackles mark a new career high.
• Senior safety Devon Matthews grabbed a fourth-quarter interception. That was IU's fifth interception of the season and the third of Matthews' career.
• Senior safety Raheem Layne tied a career high with eight tackles.
• Indiana's all-time tight ends receptions and yardage leader Peyton Hendershot made three catches for 34 yards. He now has 32 receptions and 373 yards this season, which move him into T-10th and 10th, respectively, on IU's single-season tight ends lists.
• Redshirt junior Chris Childers put the Hoosiers on the board with his first career touchdown, from one yard out.
• Hendershot made the 40th start of his career.
• Senior wide receiver Ty Fryfogle made the 30th start of his career.
• Fitzgerald made the 20th start of his career.
• Graduate transfer running back Stephen Carr (USC) and redshirt junior wide receiver Miles Marshall made the 15th starts of their careers.
• Michigan won the coin toss and chose to defer.
• The team voted Fryfogle, Hendershot, linebacker Cam Jones, husky Marcelino McCrary-Ball, McFadden, and quarterback Michael Penix Jr. season captains.
