Indiana Drops Home Opener to Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – In the opening home match of the 2021 season, the Indiana women's tennis team fell to Michigan 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Despite winning at the No. 2 position, the Hoosiers dropped the doubles point on a Michigan comeback at the No. 1 position.

Freshman Laura Masic recorded the lone point for IU, winning a hard-fought third set tiebreaker to secure a 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8) victory at the No. 1 singles position.

Saturday's victory was Masic's second victory in three matches in her freshman campaign.

Rose Hu battled strong at No. 5 singles, dropping the first set 6-7 before losing the match in straight sets to the Wolverines.

The Hoosiers will continue their homestand tomorrow morning against Michigan State at 11:00 a.m. EST.
