
IUFH Opens the 2020-21 Season In Virginia Beach

Bloomington, Ind.— After being away from the pitch since Nov. 1, 2019, Indiana Field Hockey opens its 20th varsity season in Virginia Beach, Va. The Hoosiers will play Rutgers on Friday, Feb. 26 before closing out week one with Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 27. Both matches are slated for a 12:00 p.m. start time.
Week 1:

Last Time: 2019 season
In Head Coach Kayla Bashore's first season at the helm, the Hoosiers saw two land on the Big Ten Preseason watch list, Ciara Girouard and Hailey Couch. Bashore earned her win as head coach on Sept. 1 in a 4-3 win over Drexel. Bashore also earned her first ranked win on the road when they traveled to No. 23 Michigan State and beat the Spartans 4-2 behind Hailey Couch's first career hat trick. At the conclusion of the 2019 season, Hailey Couch was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team and Grace Sensenig earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship award.
NEW YEAR, NEW FACES
The Hoosiers add nine newcomers to their roster for the 2020-21 season. Jemima Cookson, Meghan Dillon, Taylor Etling, Brinley Foster, Sophie Giltrap, Anna Gwiazdzinski, Emma Martin, and Shannon McNally join Indiana as freshman. Sydney Keld joined the team in January 2020 as a transfer from the University of Delaware.
Turning to the staff, Will Holt enters his first season as an assistant under Head Coach Kayla Bashore. Holt brings a wealth of experience to Bloomington as he is a member of the US Men's National Field Hockey Team. He also has coached and played for many organizations across Europe.
Preseason Honors Roll In
Prior to the season, the Big Ten announced their Field Hockey Preseason Watchlist. Jemima Cookson, Sydney Keld, and Mary Kate Kesler landed on the list for Indiana.
