
Brown Matches School Record as Indiana One-Hits Penn State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana University baseball team completed the sweep of Penn State in a Saturday doubleheader, 8-0, at Bark Kaufman Field in Bloomington, Ind. The Hoosiers took the first game, 7-2.
With the team's fifth-straight win, IU improves to 5-1 on the season and in Big Ten play. The Nittany Lions fall to 2-4 on the year and in league play.
KEY MOMENTS
• RHP McCade Brown (2-0) was dominant for the Hoosiers. The sophomore hurler matched the Indiana school record with a career-high 16 strikeouts in seven, no-hit innings.
• After walking two-straight batters in the top of the first, Brown went on to sit down 15-straight Nittany Lions. In that stretch, he posted 13 strikeouts and two groundouts.
• Brown's 16 strikeouts are the most since Brad Edwards set the Indiana school record with 16 against Quinnipiac on Mar. 17, 2000.
• Indiana allowed just one hit against Penn State, a single to lead off the eighth inning off the bat of Gavin Homer.
• The one hit allowed is the fewest for Indiana since Doug Fleenor one-hit Miami (OH) on Apr. 25, 2006.
• In the bottom of the first inning, freshman INF Paul Toetz came through with a clutch, two-out RBI double, scoring INF Cole Barr all the way from first base to give the Hoosiers a quick, 1-0 lead.
• Indiana blew the game open offensively in the bottom of the sixth, highlighted by two-run hits from INF Grant Macciocchi, Barr and INF Jordan Fucci.

• Brown's 16 strikeouts are an IU school record for a Big Ten game, breaking the record of 13 set by Andrew Saalfrank against Penn State on Apr. 6, 2019.
• Brown also struck out every Penn State starter at least once in the victory.
