
Hoosiers Come Up Short In Doubleheader With No. 25 Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Softball (7-8, 7-8 Big Ten) returned to the diamond for a doubleheader against No. 25 Michigan (12-3, 12-3 Big Ten) on Saturday afternoon. The Wolverines offense proved to be too much as the Hoosiers dropped a pair of games.
Game One: Michigan 3, Indiana 1
KEY MOMENTS
• The first three innings were a battle as each team got runners on the base paths, but neither could plate any runs.
• In the fourth, Grayson Radcliffe hit a solo shot past the outfield fence that gave Indiana the 1-0 lead.
• Michigan went on to tie it in the sixth with a home run of their own.
• Emily Goodin retired the side in the seventh to give Indiana one last chance to end the game in regulation.
• Bella Norton led off the bottom of the frame with a walk. Aaliyah Andrews came in to pinch run for Norton but was caught stealing second. Down its final out, Indiana couldn't capitalize, and the game went to extras.
• The Wolverines plated two runs and gained a 3-1 advantage in the ninth.
• Gabbi Jenkins had a leadoff single and advanced to second on an error by the Michigan catcher. Jenkins was stranded as the Hoosiers dropped the ball game.

Game Two: Michigan 8, Indiana 1

• Grayson Radcliffe was hit by a pitch in the second to put on one with one out. Radcliffe stole second but was left on base as Indiana couldn't get the bats to come alive.
• Michigan found its offensive attack by taking a 7-0 lead in the second.
• With Amber Linton in the circle, the Hoosiers held the Wolverines scoreless for five straight innings.
• In the sixth, Aaliyah Andrews received the leadoff walk. Gabbi Jenkins singled but Andrews was thrown out on the play to keep just one runner on base. After stealing second, Jenkins was able to advance to third off a grounder.
• Bella Norton knocked down the single that brought Jenkins home and cut into the Michigan lead, 7-1.
• Giving up a run in the seventh and down 8-1, Indiana was faced with their final three outs. Katie Lacefield hit a single to right center to put a runner on. Lacefield would then advance to second to get in scoring position but two quick outs ended the outing for Indiana.
