
IUTF Heads To Illinois For Fighting Illini Big Ten Relays

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Track & Field will travel to Champaign, Ill. for their final road meet of the regular season. The Hoosiers will compete with other Big Ten programs at the Fighting Illini Big Ten Relays commencing on Friday, April 23 and wrapping up on Saturday April. 23.
Last Time Out: Split Weekend
The Hoosiers split up this past weekend to compete at the Husker B1G Invite and the Big Ten Indiana Invite No. 3. Bailey Hertenstein highlighted the weekend by breaking the school record in the 5000m. In a sprint to the finish Hertenstein blew past her competitor to take the crown and a time of 15:38.01. Her time was also the facility record. Khayla Dawson also shined at the Big Ten Indiana Invite No. 3 by heaving a distance of 17.93m (58' 10") in the shot put and 53.56m (175' 8") in the discus. She won the shot put and came in third in the discus event. Her mark in the discus was a personal best by the senior.
Down in Prairie View, Texas at the Husker B1G Invite, Hope Purcell set a personal record in the heptathlon with 5, 182 points. She finished fourth in the event. Alyssa Robinson also saw a personal best with her time of 23.77 in the 200m. Robinson went on to take silver. Leah Moran won the triple jump for the fourth consecutive meet with a mark of 12.99m (42' 7.5").
Hertenstein Honored
Bailey Hertenstein was awarded her first career Big Ten Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor on Wednesday afternoon. She earned it with her school record breaking performance at the Big Ten Indiana Invite No. 3.
