Indiana Softball Travels to Purdue

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Softball (8-12, 8-12 Big Ten) heads back out on the road this weekend for four games against the Purdue Boilermakers (6-14, 6-14 Big Ten) in West Lafayette.
First Pitch
The series will kick off on Friday, April 9 with a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. The series will continue with a game on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and conclude with a game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Checking Out The Competition
Purdue: The Boilermakers enter the weekend with a 6-14 overall record. Last time out Purdue went 1-3 against Minnesota. In the Purdue win pitcher Savanah Henley tossed a 1-hitter in a 2-0 victory. Henley is 1-3 on the season with an era of 2.26. Rachel Becker leads Purdue with 27 hits on the season and has nine doubles and 6 RBI.
Last Time Out
Indiana started the series with Iowa with a 4-1 victory in extra innings. The Hoosiers and Hawkeyes were tied 1-1 after seven innings. Back-to-back home runs by Aaliyah Andrews and Annika Baez ignited Indiana to the 4-1 victory. Emily Goodin allowed two hits and no runs through 5.1 innings pitched. On Sunday, the Hoosiers had a 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning when Iowa scored one run in the seventh and one run in the tenth inning for a 2-1 win. Emily Goodin pitched the whole way for the Hoosiers and tallied five strikeouts.

• Jenkins has 87 career stolen bases and is three away from breaking the 90 career stolen base record set by Aimee Lonigro in 1997. She broke the program single game stolen base record already this year with six against Rutgers on Mar. 13.
• As a team, the Hoosiers rank fourth in the country in stolen bases at 2.90 per game.
• The Hoosiers have stolen 39 more bases than their opponents this season.
• Bella Norton leads Indiana in RBI with eight on the season.
• Brittany Ford hit her first career grand slam in game one against Rutgers on Mar. 13.
