IUTF Women Finish Second At B1G Championships

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Indiana Track & Field completed its stint at the 2021 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships where the Hoosier women took second as team with 109 points. Leah Moran defended her triple jump championship while another 14 Hoosiers earned podium spots on the final day of the championships.
Ohio State took the women's team title while Iowa was crowned men's team champions. The Indiana men collected 38.83 points and finished in 10th as a team.
Leah Moran successfully defended her triple jump title from 2019 on Sunday afternoon. She captured the Big Ten title after the fifth jump and her final jump served as an encore. On her final jump, Moran soared a mark of 13.56m (44' 6") to capture a new personal record ahead of NCAAs. The mark also serves as the new program record which was held by Moran.
The 4x100m relay started the events on the track for the Hoosiers as the women's squad placed sixth while the men finished in eighth. Morgan Snow, Alyssa Robinson, Natalie Price, and Paola Fernandez-Sola combined for a time of 45.29. Ben Hibbert, Rikkoi Brathwaite, William Session, and Shaton Vaughn went 40.92.
Robinson competed in the final of the 100m and 200m and medaled in both events. In the 100m, Robinson crossed third with a personal best time of 11.58. She returned in the 200m where the Indianapolis, Ind. native picked up silver in a personal best time of 23.03.
Price also pulled the sprint double final with the 200m and 400m where she took down personal bests in both events. Price clocked a time of 52.21 for silver before going 23.57 in the 400m to finish in fifth.
Kelsey Harris ran a mid-distance final double on Sunday afternoon with the 800m and 1500m. Harris took bronze in the 800m in a time of 2:09.85 after crossing second in the 1500m with a time of 4:14.09.
Joely Pinkston and Kelly Mindak also competed in the 800m along with Harris. In her final conference event, Pinkston picked up fifth and a time of 2:10.31. Mindak notched a time of 2:10.38 to take sixth.
Bailey Hertenstein appeared in the final of 1500m where she clocked a personal best of 4:14.13 to finish in third.
Closing out the championships on the oval for the women was the 4x400m relay where Lauren Thomas, Robinson, Snow, and Price raced to bronze and a time of 3:35.83.
In the field, Anna Watson walked away from the pole vault with the bronze medal and clearing height of 4.25m (13' 11.25").
Khayla Dawson returned for the discus after taking silver in the shot put the day prior. Dawson heaved a mark of 53.58m (175' 9") and picked up fifth place.
On the men's side of the championships, Matthew Schadler and Dustin Horter took part in the 1500m final. Horter crossed seventh in a time of 3:55.72 while Schadler saw the last podium spot in eighth and a time of 3:56.52.
Teddy Browning toed the line in the 800m final and notched a time of 1:50.18 for seventh place.
Vaughn nabbed eighth in the 400m hurdles by clocking a time of 52.09.
The Hoosier will await how many entries they are awarded to the NCAA East Preliminary Round in Jacksonville, Fla. North Florida will host the NCAA East Prelims starting on Wednesday, May 26 through Saturday, May 29. The men will compete on Wednesday and Friday while the women are set to compete on Thursday and Saturday.
