No. 11 Indiana Opens Big Ten Play Against Rutgers

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 11-ranked Indiana Hoosiers (3-1-1) open up Big Ten Conference play as hosts of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (5-0-1). The match is slated for an 8 p.m. ET first kick on Sept. 17 at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.

SETTING THE SCENE
• Over the last five seasons, Indiana holds a record of 30-2-8 against Big Ten opponents in the regular season and have outscored the conference foes 73-19 during that stretch. The Hoosiers are 23-2-5 all time in Big Ten Conference openers.
• Redshirt junior defender Daniel Munie was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 14 after holding a potent Akron offense to one goal and scoring Indiana's lone goal in a 1-1 (2OT) draw against the Zips.
ABOUT THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
• Rutgers enters the match with a record of 5-0-1 under the direction of third-year head coach Jim McElderry. He has compiled a record of 16-12-5 since taking over the reins in Piscataway.
• As a program, the Scarlet Knights have played in the NCAA Tournament on 19 occasions with the team's best finish coming during the 1990 campaign. That team, led by head coach Bob Reasso, finished 20-3 on the season and as the national runner-up.
• Junior goalkeeper Oren Asher, a two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honoree this season, has made 16 saves in 19 chances (0.842 save percentage) and conceded just three goals in 560 minutes in net. The Israeli has four shutouts in six starts this season.
