IUWS Set to Face In-State Rival Purdue on Sunday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's soccer team (2-6-6, 0-6-1) will host in-state rival Purdue Boilermakers (3-9-2, 0-5-2) on Sunday, Oct. 16. at 2 p.m. ET.
The match will be broadcasted on BTN with Dean Linke (PxP) and Kayla Sharples (Analyst) on the call.
ABOUT THE BOILERMAKERS
• Head coach Drew Roff is in his eighth season at the helm of the Purdue women's soccer program. In 2021, he led the Boilermakers to an 8-2-0 record, finishing runner-up in conference.
• Purdue is coming off a 2-2 tie against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Oct. 13. Freshman forward Kayla Busish scored the first goal in the 20th minute for the lead. Junior midfielder would convert on a penalty kick in the 42nd to take a 2-0 lead. Iowa would score in the 46th and the 55th minute for the draw.
• Sophomore forward Gracie Dunway leads the Boilermakers offense with five goals, two assists, 12 points and one game winning goal.
• Freshman Kailey Kimball and sophomore Sara Kile goalkeepers have each been between the post seven matches this season combining for 65 saves, 26 goals against (2.00 goals agaisnt average) and three wins.
SERIES HISTORY
• Purdue leads the series 16-4-6.
• Indiana fell 2-0 to the No. 18 ranked Boilermakers in the last matchup on Oct. 24, 2021. Purdue sealed the game with two goals in the 73rd and 80th minutes.
LAST TIME OUT
• Michigan State found the back of the net early when junior midfielder Zivana Labovic scored in the fifth minute of play. Freshman midfielder Emerson Sargeant and senior forward Lauren DeBeau combined for the assist for the MSU header.
• In the 17th minute, sophomore keeper Jamie Gerstenberg turned away a Spartan shot for her first save of the match. She finished the evening with five total saves.
• Junior forward Jen Blitchok nearly found the equalizer in the 88th minute with a strike, but redshirt senior keeper Lauren Kozal of Michigan State was up to the task for her second save of the match.
• In the 89th minute senior midfielder Alaina Kalin had an attempt on goal that was also saved by Kozal.
INDIANA DEFENSE
• The Hoosiers have shutout eight consecutive opponents, extending their scoreless streak to a total of 720 minutes this season, tying the program record for longest consecutive scoreless streak that was set in the 1993 inaugural season.
