
Indiana Takes Down No. 25 Michigan for First Ranked Victory since 2019

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Indiana Volleyball team (11-10, 4-5) finally got its marquee win of the 2022 season on Friday evening.
After pushing No. 9 Purdue to five sets and taking No. 21 Western Kentucky and No. 6 Ohio State to four sets, the Hoosiers turned the tide in Ann Arbor, taking down No. 25 Michigan 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-23) at Cliff Keen Arena.
This marked the third time under head coach Steve Aird that IU has taken down a top-25 opponent and the second time it has been over Michigan.
It was IU's first win over a top-25 opponent since 2019 (at No. 14 Kentucky) and first on the road over a ranked conference opponent since 2013 (at No. 10 Michigan State).
Kaley Rammelsberg returned to the lineup for the first time in over a month. IU got cluch performances from everyone in the lineup in the victory.
The Hoosiers will look for a sweep of Michigan State on Sunday afternoon (2:00 PM EST) and a complete sweep of the state of Michigan.
SET 1 (Michigan 25, Indiana 21)
• With Kenzie Daffinee on the service line, IU jumped out to a 5-1 lead with back-to-back kills from Savannah Kjolhede and Mady Saris.
• Following a service ace from Camryn Haworth and a Michigan attacking error, the Wolverines were forced into a timeout down 14-8.
• Morgan Geddes hammered home a kill to break an 8-0 Michigan run and level the score at 16-all.
• IU would get back within one point at 20-21, but Michigan took the opening set 25-21.
SET 2 (Indiana 25, Michigan 22)
• Savannah Kjolhede threw down a kill early as IU jumped out to a 4-2 lead.
• Down 5-7, IU responded with a 4-0 run with a kill from Savannah Kjolhede and a handy ace from Mady Saris to take a 9-7 lead.
• After an ace from Morgan Geddes and attack error from Michigan, the Wolverines took a timeout down 12-15.
• Back-to-back kills from Candela Alonso-Corcelles and Mady Saris handed the Hoosiers a 23-20 lead late. IU would hang on to win the set 25-22.
SET 3 (Indiana 25, Michigan 19)
• After going down 7-9, IU went on a 5-1 run with a Morgan Geddes ace handing IU a three-point advantage.
• Michigan needed two timeouts within five points with an ace from Kenzie Daffinee and kill from Mady Saris pinning back the Wolverines.
• Mady Saris provided the nail-in-the-coffin in the third set with a kill to take the game 25-19.
SET 4 (Indiana 25, Michigan 23)
• Michigan jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but IU responded with four points of its own including kills from Kaley Rammelsberg and Candela Alonso-Corcelles during the run.
• Morgan Geddes slammed down a kill to level the score back to 10-all.
• Down 19-21, IU went on a gutsy 4-0 run with kills from Camryn Haworth and Morgan Geddes giving it the late advantage.
• Candela Alonso-Corcelles closed the door on Michigan with a kill to win the fourth set 25-23.
